What Is an MT5 Expert Advisor (Trading Bot)?
The meaning
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is a trading platform. An Expert Advisor (EA) is a program that runs inside MT5 and follows rules written in code. People usually call it a trading bot or robot. The rules can cover when to enter, when to exit and how much to risk.
What a bot does and does not do
A bot follows its rules without emotion and can watch the market all day. It does not predict the future and it does not know more than its rules. If the rules are weak, the bot is weak. It can lose money, and it can lose it fast when conditions change.
Where bots are used
Bots are used on instruments such as gold, currency pairs and crypto through brokers that support MT5. Each bot is built for a particular style and set of conditions, so one bot is not right for every market.
What to understand first
Before using any bot, learn how orders, lot size, stop loss and drawdown work. A trader who cannot explain what the bot is doing cannot judge when to switch it off.
